Being Versus Doing in Business

Compare or dare in business
March 1, 2024Multi-passionate entrepreneurs
I talk to many multi-passionate entrepreneurs who are on the verge of burn-out because they spread themselves too thin.
The multi-passionate entrepreneurs follow every passion in many different directions and get confused. What they need to do instead is to figure out what their passions have in common; the overarching theme that is rooted in their core. Then it all makes sense – you can then join your passions in a niche that is unique to you.
When our activities come from the same story, the same direction, it’s like 100 small creeks that flow into one river. This way, you can have this massive impact, instead of spreading yourself too thin. For me as a coach, it’s mostly a matter of helping people to do what they really love. Many women only do what they THINK is possible, or what somebody else told them to do.
They have a blueprint to follow for success. But they don’t get success because what they do is not anchored in who they are.
Multi-passionate need core inspiration
You need that inspiration that comes from your core. When you have that; you can write, you can talk, you can invite, you can do all the things, that you need to do in your business, with inspiration. And people feel it on the other side. They’ll say:
“Yes, I want to be with this person because I can feel her.” It’s something that we may not be conscious of, but that’s how it works.
When something is easy for you, you think it’s nothing. You don’t see the value of it. But remember, you have lived a full life, you have trained for years to be able to do this and to enhance that skill. So that’s why it’s easy to you. It’s not easy because it’s nothing, it’s easy because you’re really good at it.
Pearl diving process
I call this process Pearl Diving. That core of yourself is like a pearl. It’s there, but it’s in an oyster and you don’t see it right away. You must dive to help it emerge and you must open the oyster to see it. Then once you see it, you can make it shine. That’s what we all want, we want to have this shiny pearl and show the world:
“Hey, this is me, and I am wonderful.” I think this is often missing from the blueprints. Why are you in THIS business? Why do you do what you do? What drives you? Are you getting as much energy out of your business as you put in? Is it sustainable that way?
Blueprints can lead to overwhelm
After that, you can start looking at the “how”. How to make six figures. How to make a million. How to do this, that or whatever you want.
What if you follow a blueprint before you have your why in place, if you don’t have yourself as a person in place? You are not going to feel good. You may end up being overwhelmed and overworked, because you are doing what fits somebody else, and it doesn’t fit you.
